Selling Tickets FAQ

Ticket Pricing / Profit Share

You earn 98% of your total ticket retail value less current banking fees.

Bank Fees / Bank Charges

Banking fees vary from bank to bank and depending on the route that a user takes to make their payment to Overtone.

Banking Fees Example:
Paypal charges about R2 + 3.4% for each transaction.
EFT / Bank Transfers are charged at between R4.6 - R18.5 per transaction in and out of our account depending on the amount.
Additional banking fees apply for any payments made via Credit Card processing, mobile wallet systems and other banking systems.

Should any banking fees change, Overtone reserves the right to reflect these changes and deduct an additional amount from your sales.

What happens if I cancel my event?

Should you cancel your event, and ticket sales have started, you will be charged a penalty of 5% + banking fees of the total current earnings from your ticket sales.

Where possible your penalty will be deducted from your Overtone credit account.
Failing this you will be required to make a payment for the outstanding amount into the Overtone bank account.

Ticket holders will have their funds returned to them as Overtone credits less any processing fees.

When do i get paid?

Overtone delays payments for 7 working days after your planned event date. Provided that there are no user comments to suggest that your event failed to happen your payment will then be processed.

Overtone is committed to making payments within 14 working days after the event date.

Where does Overtone make its payments after sales close?

Overtone makes payments to sellers based on the route that payments were received.

As a seller you are required to have a Paypal account and a standard Bank Account.
ie: If Overtone receives sales via Paypal and by EFT then we pay you out proportionately into your own matching accounts.

Why?
This is so you earn more per event and the cumulative banking fees are less.
Should you require all your payments via one or other route then additional banking and processing fees will be charged.

Where Overtone credits are used as the payment route then Overtone will make payment to you in Overtone Credits to the total value of your earnings via this channel. Your credit withdrawal will be subject to standard Overtone credit procedure. The minimum withdrawal from Overtone credits is 500. Please see Overtone credit terms and conditions.

Ticket Pricing - What ticket price should i set?

You are about to launch your marketing campaign and you need to set the right ticket price..

You want people to buy tickets early and you want them to save cash by buying online..

So we generally we advise you advertise your ticket price as follows in your marketing:

Your Ticket Price + R10 which is the maximum processing fee we charge per order..

eg:
Buy Tickets Online - R150 (R140 your actual price as listed but +R10 for when the user checks out)

Buy Tickets at the Door - R200 (so that people make an effort to buy early)

This way a buyer will see the event listed on Overtone as R140 and depending on what payment route they take they may save R8.00 off your advertised price.

This will keep everyone happy.

How do I process tickets at my event?

Processing tickets with Overtone is nice and easy.
We have 2 options.. or you can use them both at the same time.

Option 1 - Access Control

Ticket holders present their Overtone ID at the door.
You Scan their Overtone Barcode
They Validate their ID using their secret PIN or ID
You grant access to your event.

Option 2 - Sales Lists

You can generate a list of all ticket holders as a spreadsheet.
You print the ticket holders lists and check off guests as they arrive.
Validate your ticket holders with their photo ID.
